Flashcard Maker

Create your own flashcard sets — add cards one by one or paste a whole list — then study with flip cards and shuffle, or print a clean card grid.

Build a set of term-and-definition cards in the editor, or paste a whole list at once (one card per line, 'term - definition'). Study mode flips cards one at a time with a shuffle option, and print mode lays the set out as a tidy grid you can print and cut apart. Everything happens in your browser — your cards are never uploaded anywhere.

Or paste a whole set

One card per line, term first, then a separator: term - definition (tabs, commas, or " :: " also work). Pasting replaces the current set.

How to use this calculator

  1. Add cards in the editor — one term and one definition per row — or paste a whole list in the import box using 'term - definition' lines.
  2. Fix any flagged problems (the editor warns about empty cards and duplicate terms).
  3. Switch to Study mode: read the term, say the definition, tap to flip and check yourself.
  4. Press Shuffle to randomize the deck once the order starts feeling familiar.
  5. Switch to Print mode and press 'Print cards' for a paper copy of the whole set.

Worked example

Example: paste the lines 'photosynthesis - how green plants turn sunlight, water, and air into food' and 'evaporation - when a liquid slowly turns into a gas' and the maker imports 2 ready-to-study cards, which you can flip through in study mode or print as a grid.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import a lot of cards at once?

Use the paste box in the editor: one card per line, term first, then a separator, then the definition — for example 'mitosis - how a cell divides into two'. Tabs, commas, and ' :: ' also work as separators. Lines without a separator are skipped and counted so you can fix them.

Are my flashcards saved or uploaded?

No. Your set exists only in this page in your browser. If you close or refresh the page, the set is gone — use print mode or copy your list from the paste format if you want a permanent copy.

How does study mode work?

Study mode shows one card at a time, term side up. Tap the card to flip to the definition, move through the deck with Previous/Next, and press Shuffle to randomize the order so you are memorizing the material, not the sequence.

What is the best way to print the cards?

Print mode arranges your set in a two-column grid with the term above its definition. Print it and cut along the rows for study slips, or keep the sheet whole as a review page. Browsers usually skip background colors when printing, so the cards print dark-on-white and easy to read.

Can I use this for language vocabulary or exam prep?

Absolutely — any term/definition pair works: vocabulary, anatomy, dates and events, formulas, or license-test facts. For really large sets, prepare the list in a text editor using the 'term - definition' format and paste it in.
